Title problems....

I bought my bug from my babysitters' son. in August and its ready to go to paint so, there has been a decent ammount of work done thus far. However, he received the bug in payment for some work done. The IDIOT that gave him the bug never transferred the title into his name from the california owner..... so Now that i have been building a car that is pretty much worthless, anyone got any ideas?

Is there a signed title? If so cant you transfer it into your name since you are the current owner?? Maybe try and file for a lost title, call the DMV and maybe they can give you an answer.

title has been lost and im not so sure the first idiot signed it before giving it to the second idiot to settle his debt owed. The last known valid plate was out of cali in 04

Check with DMV about a lost title and see what can be done, thats all I can think of to do since neither idiot signed it over. Good luck.

tammy had to do something similar to get the harley titled from new mexico. if she has the info to the title company she used, she can post it up.

You can call Broadway Titles and they can get you/them a title for the bug. Alot of people uses them with no titles or lost titles.

My Square came from Cali (title was signed by PO)and the DMV told me that I had to inspect the car before they would transfer the title to me. So I got it inspected and went to change the title.... got down there and they asked me "Why did you inspect it? Were you driving it?" Ummmmm..............no ossifer.
